Did You Know That the NFPA Offers Free Access To The NEC® Code Book?
The National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) be the leading global advocate for the elimination of death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards. Their mission is to help save lives and reduce loss with information, knowledge and passion. The National Electric Code (NEC®) is just one way that the NFPA fulfills their mission.
Historically the code book was something that had to be purchased in hardcopy. While you can still purchase a hard copy, the NFPA has made it available on-line for download to improve public safety. To learn how to download the 2017 NEC Code as well as other NFPA standards, you can go to www.nfpa.org/freeaccess and learn how to logon.
Sometimes it’s difficult to know exactly how to apply these electrical codes in the field. The Bussmann Division of Eaton, has created a handbook called Selecting Protective Devices based on the 2017 NEC. It covers how to apply fuses for overcurrent protection as stand-alone applications or in combination with circuit breakers to keep your most important assets, people, safe.
